The Heidelberg Zoo, located on the bank of the Neckar River, is home to over 1100 animals from more than 250 species. Part of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP) and the West African Primate Conservation Action (WAPCA), the zoo not only helps to raise conservation awareness, but also participates in breeding programs for several endangered species.
