Saturday, Sept. 1 will be the last of the three Castle lightings (Schlossbeleuchtung) this year at the Heidelberg Castle. The lighting will begin at 10:15 p.m. and will feature a new fireworks concept – making the fireworks better than ever and allowing viewers the opportunity to be closer to the castle than in previous years.
For those who wish to do a little shopping before the fireworks, businesses in the Altstadt will remain open until 9:00 p.m. There will also be a concert held at the Holy Ghost Church at 6:15 p.m., featuring works for brass and organ by the Stuttgart Brass Quartet. If you plan to drive downtown for the lighting, please come early, as several streets around the castle will be blocked off for safety reasons.
