Ziegelhausen, an old church, is the home of the Max Berk Textile Museum. The museum was founded in 1978, and is still privately run by Max Berk’s family. The museum’s collection is divided into three areas: historical, international, and production. The historical exhibit showcases ecclesiastical garments, clothes, accessories and other textiles, dating back to the late 1800’s. The international area contains various textiles from Bali, Peru, Java, and India, as well as a collection of American and British quilts which vary in age from over the last 200 years. The third area focuses on the techniques used in the development of different types of fibres as well as processes and machines used in producing textiles.
