Crossing the Philosopher's Walk by a park dedicated to poet Friedrich Hölderlin is the Snake Path. This path cuts up the side of the Heiligenberg, starting from nearby the Old Bridge and continuing up into the forest. It is partly enclosed by bushes and trees, as well as some lovely terraced vineyards, but there are several viewing platforms for terrific views of the city.

If you enjoy hiking, or just nature in general, continue your exploration of Heiligenberg above the Philosopher's Walk and Snake Path. There are plenty of trails which allow you to discover some wonderful hidden treasures of the area. Hidden away in the woods are several old wells, some still flowing with fresh spring water, as well as centuries-old trail markers.

Eventually, if you climb high enough (you can drive also), you will end up at the top of the hill. Here, you will find a look-out tower for the castle, Michaelskloster, and a Gasthaus with a biergarten.
